As a newspaper reporter, I consistently drown in work because there is just so much of it. Because of this, I value my personal writing time that much more. Writing what I want to write helps me process and is theraputic for me.
I dedicate the first two hours of every day, Sunday- Saturday, year-round, as my personal writing practice. It's become somewhat meditative and clears my mind so I'm able to focus on my job (and all that comes with it) in an emotionally healthy manner.
Also, through this practice, I've learned that morning time is my most energized, focused and creative time of the day.
