I agree with all of your insight about mailing lists. I mean, I’ve seen people have success with them but when I think about what that means for me their success is based on what success means for them. Having a list is essential I suppose for selling but I’m not even sure what I’m selling. Honestly, I just want to create and pay bills. I haven’t figured out how to sell that yet. Maybe I’ll send a newsletter that says that. Ha.

I also have a lot more engagement on social media though, admittedly I need to kick my Facebook game up a few notches. It’s like the most social network and I do the least socializing.

Twitter and Instagram have done well for me. Instagram probably the best. I can share stories in stories and visuals on my profile.

Patreon now has their own “stories” version called Lens. This I dislike because if I’m going to make the effort for patrons why would I want it to be deleted 24 hours later? I get it, the idea behind it is immediate action. Join now or you’ll miss it! But again, I want to grow organically and with those who connect with my work and not because they have to join now or they’ll miss it.

Maybe it is a creative thing.
