Iowa Governor baffles teachers with recently imposed COVID-19 restriction. Republican Iowa governor Kim Reynolds, a boisterous supporter of Donald Trump, increased COVID-19 measures until Dec. 10.
As Coronavirus cases, hospitalizations and deaths surged throughout October and into November, Iowa’s healthcare system buckled, prompting the governor to take action. Reynolds spent the month of October on the super spreader campaign trail and was not available to address the pandemic during that time.
The newly imposed restriction on gatherings has left teachers across the state baffled. Reynolds, who ordered schools opened for a minimum of 50% face-to-face classroom instruction back in July, has now limited indoor gatherings to a maximum of 15 people.
“I can have more students in my classroom than attendees at my funeral,” Ms. Bayer, a 5th grade teacher said.
The recent restriction is in addition to the zero measures Reynolds previously had in place.
