My husband’s family sounds the same as your grandfather. His parents started with a one bedroom house on a small piece of land and while raising 5 children expanded on the house and now own and farm over 500 acres. Farmers work night and day and they earn little money in exchange for their time, effort and work ethic. They’re underappreciated. Without farmers a large majority of the planet would starve to death. Especially those who long for and survive with instant gratification such as processed foods. I also know a few farmers who own centennial farms which means their father farmed the land and his father before him. If everyone had this type of work ethic imagine what the world would be like even if only on a smaller scale such as individual communities?
