Optimize Your Time and Increase Your Productivity

When I woke this morning it was chilly and raining. I sat snug in bed next to my husband. We were drinking coffee and sharing interesting stories we had found on our smartphones. He’s the type of guy that loves his IPhone. I’m the type of girl that has deep rooted emotional attachment for her laptop.
I was scrolling through the Medium feed when I came across a headline that read, “Do These 50 Things Every Day to Optimize Your Time and Increase Your Productivity.”
I didn’t click on the article. I didn’t click on it because my first thought was, 50 things? Fuck, that sounds time consuming. My second thought was, why am I optimizing my time and increasing my productivity?
I mean, shouldn’t I be savoring the moment and smelling the roses or whatever other bullshit inspirational quotes there are out in the world?
Who wakes up Monday- Friday enthusiastic about going to work? Or enthusiastic about working more hours than not or getting paid shit and financially struggling to pay your bills while dickhead stopped at the light in the lane next to you is in a Maserati? Who needs a Maserati, anyway?
That’s about as useless in life as doing 50 things every day to optimize your time, yet dude had 5.6K claps for the article. This equally concerns me.

Here is where my real story begins.
The days of true literature and journalism have been buried by click bait online media, life hacking articles and misinformation bullshit- anything but real life.
I’ve sold stories to publications I didn’t want to write nor did I believe in for scraps of cash. It’s not my definition of successful. There’s no depth, heart, growth or journey. It’s a means to an end. It’s not who I am. I want to write for my readers, the people I connect with.
Thanks to Patreon I have an opportunity to do just that. With your contribution I can continue to write real life stories.
Words have the power to create a positive impact on the world.
If you’ve read my writing then you know what I’m all about. I write personal narrative, how current events affect us and our lives, cultural commentary pieces and really funny shit. I write about our every day struggles, our feel goods and how we can and should live defined by our own standards. I piece together the unsolved mysteries of the universe.
