For the Love of Iowa

I fell in love with Iowa the first time my husband brought me home to meet his parents. After living in the city I was enchanted by its beauty and sense of calm. It’s as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist. The landscape spreads to the horizon. During the spring and summer months its flourishing green with an array of flowers and crops. During the fall its rainbow colors as the leaves dance from the tree tops to the ground beneath my feet. The winter time is equally as mesmerizing covered in a blanket of snow.
City life is a 40 mile drive and I adore the idea of living in nowhere off the grid in a place that’s never touched a map and still have the ability to be part of the hustle in the world when I choose. Iowa City’s history dates back to the 1800s and most of its structure still remains. Old buildings and small streets, and a culture of creative writing, art, music and food.
This is a collection of photos from my first year living here. I’m looking forward to the many years yet to come.
