This is so true. When I was younger it was all about the type of car you drove, clothes your wore, neighborhood you lived and for what? Social status? It didn’t matter that my generation of parents went to work every day hating their jobs and selling their souls as long as they were getting that paycheck.

I have worked hard, along with my husband, for over twenty years so we can live a more laid back lifestyle now doing things that we enjoy opposed to basing our lifestyle on how much money we make and what we own.

We also have mouths to feed so we do need a roof over our heads and a steady income until the youngest graduates college at least, and then it’s our time. But until then, we can still reduce our footprint in the world, become more self sufficient and live a simpler life.
