What About the Good Days

What about the days when the darkness clears and the weight lifts? The sun blankets you with warmth. The rain washes your sorrows away. The view is enchanting. You connect with Mother Nature.

You stand at the top of the hill breathing deeply while staring off into the distance. The earth stretches to the horizon. The possibilities go on for infinity. The fresh air rejuvenates you as if it’s the reset button your mental health desperately needs.

It’s euphoric. It’s the highest you’ve felt in weeks.

What about the days when the voice inside your head is quiet? You’re at odds with the negative self-talk always drilling in that you’re not good enough. You initiated war to shut it up. The voice won’t be coming around today.

Motivation won the battle against self-loathing. You’re able to function now. It could be the middle of the night during a spell of insomnia or during the day time hours in a public place. Relief sets in and your ‘fight or flight’ calms.

In the silence you feel as if you could take over the world. You feel triumphant and glorious. There is no voice telling you that you can’t. It’s only you and yes, you can. Today is a perfect day for it.

What about the days when small steps lead to big strides? Those tiny pieces and tiny amounts of time. You’re focused. You write down your ideas. You draw a diagram. You watch it grow. Poof! Your idea turns into a dream. Your dream became a reality. You create beautiful things the world needs.

You feel rewarded. This is good. It builds confidence. It becomes your purpose and you invest more of yourself and your time. You’re doing it. Don’t stop now.

Your goal is to find others who experience life just like you do and make a connection. Your intentions are to be honest, raw and real.

What about the days when you feel loved? It’s the little things we notice that make us feel loved. Don’t you agree? It’s when you wake up in the morning with your spouses arms wrapped around you or when your kids shower you with handmade gifts. It’s the gratitude of longtime friendship and your pet waiting for you at the door.

When you feel at your lowest and the weight of depression has you pinned down and your mind is playing tricks on you please know that you are loved. We are all loved by someone.

What about the days you feel alive? You break free of the hold depression has on you. You stretch your arms and reach for the sky. You dance and twirl as the stress unravels itself from your body. Physical activity is the best medicine. It’s a self-made, all natural happy drug.

You can breathe, in and out. Your lungs expand. The oxygen in your blood flows through your organs. You’re strong and powerful.

You’re out of bed.
