Where Sadness Lives

A few weeks ago Olive disappeared. We’ve done everything to find him but he hasn’t made it home. It’s been long enough that we would be surprised if he were to return to us. We are saddened by this. We love Olive dearly. We think of him every day.

I have more not so good news. Boomer will be going to live with a friend. He attacked Nico last week and we had her to the emergency room vet late at night. She had surgery and is healing well. It was a 40 minute drive to the city and I was so scared we’d lose her. Do to the location and number of bites the vet believes it happened while Nico was sleeping, was taken by surprise and slow to react.
I’m devastated that Boomer would do such a thing but at the same time he’s always been a difficult cat. He goes after Lou and then Nico and Brutus always intervene to protect her. Joe found him in a cornfield when he was a kitten and I think he just has too much barn cat in him. He’s always fighting with the other cats for food and attention. The two things that are definitely not lacking in our house. There’s plenty to go around. He’s a loving cat and a good friend. He will be missed.
It saddens me that Olive is gone, Boomer is leaving and Nico is injured. We’re doing our best to get through this transition as a family.
